Vrbnik on island of Krk in Croatia

Vrbnik

On the northeast side of the island, on the cliff high above the sea you will find a warm welcome in the town of Vrbnik. The whole town is a monument, home to many Glagolitic stone inscriptions, missals, codices, registers and legal manuscripts. Vrbnik is known for its folklore tradition but also for the most delightful and scarily narrow stone street you will ever see. The smallest or narrowest street in the world is currently in Vrbink.

In the neighboring town, in the small church of St. Juraj a 13th
century fresco was found with the first Croatian depiction of a vessel. If you look up, above the Vrbnik field, you can see Gradec - the only castle/fortification of Frankopan knights situated outside the town.
