Omišalj

Our historical tour begins in the northern part of the island, in the town of Omišalj. It is a fortified town with Romanic church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary from the 12^th century with a triptych from the 15^th century. The town is full of lookout points along the city walls, one next to a very intriguing water tower and a small medieval church of St. Anthony of Padua.

In the Sepen bay (2 km from Omišalj), there are remains of the Roman town Fulfinum with early Christian basilica from the 5^th/6^th century, the largest such on the Mediterranean.
