Omišalj
Our historical tour begins in the northern part of the island, in the town of Omišalj. It is a fortified town with Romanic church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary from the 12th century with a triptych from the 15th century. The town is full of lookout points along the city walls, one next to a very intriguing water tower and a small medieval church of St. Anthony of Padua.
In the Sepen bay (2 km from Omišalj), there are remains of the Roman town Fulfinum with early Christian basilica from the 5th/6th century, the largest such on the Mediterranean.
